Cycling has all along been a distinctive feature of Sha Tin and is very popular among people living in or outside Sha Tin. The first cycle track in Sha Tin has been extended to Ma On Shan.

Sha Tin lies in a valley of the New Territories and was originally a rural area. In a short period of 30 years, it has rapidly developed into a well-planned new town. In the district, there are numerous spots which bear witness to the rapid development of the district over the years. One of them is the 3.2-kilometre-long Ma On Shan Promenade opened in September 2010. It serves as an ideal leisure and environmental education facility for the community.

Covering an area of 140,000 square metres, the New Town Plaza is the focal shopping, eating and recreation point in Sha Tin. A trip to Sha Tin should not omit the Lions Pavilion. There you may view the whole Sha Tin new town. You may also go to the Che Kung Temple to make a wish.
