Lamma Island is in the southern part of Hong Kong. As the shape of the island resembles a branch, it is hence named as Lamma ("southern branch"). The people of Hong Kong, young or old, Chinese or non-Chinese, are fond of visiting this island for leisure.

Stop 1 Take the ferry from Central Pier (Pier 4).

On Lamma Island, Yung Shue Wan Main Street is the most densely populated part where there is the most expatriates' presence. There are many fine western style pubs and bars. Also found along the street are traditional dˆmcor stores, artifact stalls, seafood restaurants and small quaint houses.

Tin Hau Temple with Lion Statues at Yung Shue Wan 
The Temple was built well beyond the Qing Dynasty, while its actual completion date was unknown. However, it was in about 1876 (during Emperor Guang Xu's era) that it underwent some restoration. It is believed that ever since a pair of western style lion statues were constructed at the entrance of the temple, fishermen there started to have great catch, islanders then believe that the lion statues bring them wealth and fortune.

Hung Shing Ye Beach  
Hung Shing Ye Beach 
Southeast to Yung Shue Wan, Hung Shing Ye Beach is famous for its fine sand and clear water, with barbecue pits nearby, the beach is an ideal place for swimming, barbecue and picnic.

Stop 4
Hiking along Ka Lok Path 
It is about an hour walk from Yung Shue Wan to Sok Kwu Wan through a small footpath, Ka Lok Path. Along the path, which is quite smooth, the fishing rafts at Sok Kwu Wan and the beautiful bay area are at sight, for this reason, many people come hiking here during weekends and holidays.

walk 10 to 15 minutes from Hung Shing Ye Beach

Hilltop Pavilion 
The Pavilion is not far from Hung Shing Ye Beach, it is right next to a footpath leading to Sok Kwu Wan. It is a great spot for tiresome hikers who like to take a rest and to enjoy the view of Cheung Chau and Lantau Island from afar.

Lo So Shing Beach 
Lo So Shing is 10-minute walk from its beach, rural scenery is at sight all along the way. It is believed that there were habitants more than a thousand years ago. Relics of the Tang Dynasty were once found nearby.

Japanese Kamikaze Cave  
Japanese Kamikaze Cave 
Situated in between Lo So Shing and So Kwu Wan is Kamikaze Cave which is constructed by the Japanese to house a flotilla of suicide motorboats.

So Kwu Wan Fishing Rafts 
It is one of the largest fishing rafts areas in Hong Kong; they are reminiscence of Hong Kong's olden days as a fish port.
