The 18 districts of Hong Kong have their own built heritage, historical development and lifestyle. To enable residents to learn more about the district they live in and Hong Kong in general as well as to foster a sense of belonging and pride for the community and encourage participation in heritage conservation, the Home Affairs Bureau, District Councils and the Hong Kong Institute of Architects co-organised a "My Heart, My Home" project (website at http://www.myheartmyhome.hk/) in 2005 for the public to vote their most loveable sights in Hong Kong. The 54 sights introduced in this section are those short-listed for the first voting stage in the project. Please click the following icon for details of the sights. We would like to specially thank the Co-organisers of "My Heart, My Home", Leisure and Cultural Services Department (including Antiquities and Monuments Office), Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, Highways Department, Mr. Kwong Kwok-wai, Islands District Councilor and Po Lin Monastery for granting us the rights to reproduce the information and photos of the project. |
